What to include on a handyman quote
- Your business name and contact details, and the customer's name and address
- Each task described plainly, so the customer knows exactly what's included
- Materials — and whether you supply them or the customer does
- Trip or callout charge, and your minimum service charge if one applies
- What's not included (for example, hidden damage found once work starts)
- How long the price is valid and your payment terms
- Subtotal, tax and total
How the minimum charge works here
If the tasks, materials and trip charge add up to less than your minimum, the template adds a clearly labelled "minimum service charge adjustment" line to bring the subtotal up to it. Customers see why the total is what it is.
Charge rate vs cost rate
Your hourly charge is what the customer pays. Your labour cost is what that hour costs you. The gap between them, across all the hours you can actually bill, has to cover your van, tools, insurance and the unpaid time between jobs.
